Astrid Lindgren's Pippi Longstocking turns 75 this year, and it was an honour to draw this portrait of her for the cover LIME magazine, June issue. LIME is a free magazine distributed in all Danish Netto stores.
This is the revised illustration for an A4 print.
Original paper and pencil sketch.
This was the first pas at the cover - with more details in the classic Ingrid Nyvang style. These were discarded for more "iconic" and "feministic" details. The article series in the magazine dove into how Pippi has been an icon of free thinking, feminism, and anti-authoritarianism throughout the times.
